Log Me In!

Today I want to give a shout out to my favorite remote computer access service: LogMeIn.com.

With LogMeIn, you can remote control any Macintosh or Windows computer through your web-browser. It's completely cross-platform; you can control a Mac from a PC, you can control a PC from a Mac. You can view your remote computer full-screen. I use it to control my home computers when I'm away, setting them to various time-consuming backup and downloading tasks that I don't want to wait on when I'm home. I use it for tech-support to help my less computer-savvy parents and friends' computers.

But I've saved the best part for last: It's FREE.

You sign up for a free account and install a simple background app on your client computers, and you install a simple web-browser plug-in for your host computer. When you're ready to remote-control one of your computers, you log in to your LogMeIn account, select the client computer you want to remote control, and click "Remote Control". It's just that easy.

As far as I can tell, there is no limit to the number of client computers you can add to your account, and you can use any host computer through any of the top web browsers.

They offer pay-for services with extra capabilities like remote file transfer and printing.
Best of all, I've had LogMeIn work when better-known for-pay services like Go2MyPC didn't work. I've had LogMeIn successfully navigate firewalls and NAT routers as well. Give it a try, it's FREE, and I'm giving it a great Marksreview!
